The mobile phone is now ubiquitous in Kenya, and the smartphone is following in the footsteps of its older relative. This app is meant to make a doctor available and a diagnosis possible in a few steps on the smartphone.
Kenya-based digital health firm, BYON8, has raised Ksh.163mn (USD 1.5mn) in seed capital to help it expand across Africa. People Ventures, a Danish early-stage technology investor, led the round, with current investors Jellyfish Invest and T&W Holding, a new investor, also participating.
“Having People Ventures lead our Seed round is a great recognition of the work we have done so far and of the continued growth and momentum we are experiencing. This capital will be used to fuel our growth in emerging markets starting with Kenya,” Josef Murad, MD, CEO and Co-Founder of BYON8.
